Shawn and Kate and several of their horses come to hospitals and schools for a “meet and greet” the horses event. These events are often the highlight of a student’s or patient’s day. Each attendee has an opportunity to interact with a horse, groom them, and feed a treat to the horses. Contact us for information and pricing.
With the ranch located just 30 minutes from downtown Denver, we offer a perfect site for corporate team building events including trail rides, hay rides, and barbeques. We would be happy to prepare a proposal for you.
Big View Ranch is the culmination of a dream for Shawn Rickel and Kate Dendrinos-Rickel. With its spectacular vistas, abundant wildlife, and tranquil atmosphere it is a remarkable and special place.
It is where Kate and Shawn drew strength and hope from the beautiful surroundings, caring neighbors, and each other to help Kate return to health after a devastating motorcycle accident in 2002. Now it is a place for them to share their hope with others.
Shawn and Kate work with those with physical, mental, and emotional challenges and inspire them to never give up by offering equine therapy sessions in this naturally majestic and healing setting.
Both Kate and Shawn were enchanted with horses from an early age. As children, each had fallen in love with the beauty and spirit of these large animals. They recognized the gentle, compelling, and healing nature of the horse. Simply put, horses soothed their souls. And as adults, Kate and Shawn sought to deepen their connection with horses and share their understandings with others.
When someone undertakes a healing journey, as Kate and Shawn did, it’s only natural to want to share what they have learned with others. That’s the goal of the Big View Ranch equine therapy program: to use equine therapy to heal broken bodies and spirits.
